PRODUCTION AREA VINCI – TUSCANY
SEASONAL TREND The 2016 vintage, like the 2015, will be remembered as optimal. Autumn and winter were mild, with temperatures dropping below zero only in January. Precipitation was significant. In spring, temperatures were normal. May and June were warm but also humid, with some loss during the setting phase and two hailstorms that caused a sort of natural thinning, thus reducing the quantity of production per plant. The summer was hot and dry. The rare rainy events between late July and August provided relief to the plants, helping them in the ripening phase. The harvest period, which began in early September, was characterized by medium-high temperatures during the day with strong temperature fluctuations at night, a phenomenon beneficial for the accumulation of phenolic compounds.
VARIETIES Sangiovese
VINIFICATION Harvest and manual selection of the best grapes from the vineyard, careful transportation to the winery, the grapes are destemmed and then inoculated with selected yeasts. Fermentation temperature of 24-27°C with daily pump-overs. The duration of fermentation and maceration on the skins is about 20 days.
MATURATION 18 months in barriques and 500 lt tonneaux, of which 30% new and 70% second passage.
